Since 1983, the U.S. President has proclaimed a National Minority Enterprise Development Week (MED Week) observance to recognize the outstanding achievements of Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and to honor those corporations and financial institutions that support minority business development. Annual regional conferences and activities are organized by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of Government Contracting and Business Development.
For the last 26 years, the Philadelphia Minority Enterprise Development Week Committee (MED Week) has brought you a series of workshops and networking sessions geared toward minority businesses. This year the Philadelphia MED Week Committee will host a week-long celebration of workshops and networking opportunities beginning on Monday, October 4, 2010. We will conclude the week with an award reception ceremony to local minority business owners on Friday, October 8, 2010.
The Philadelphia MED Week Committee consists of corporations, local colleges and universities, local and regional government agencies, local business organizations and minority business owners that are committed to supporting opportunities for minority businesses.
